About The Artist

Steven Jordan is a professional artist living in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He was born in Anderson, South Carolina and began his career by majoring in painting at the University of South Carolina, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He continued his studies at the Art Students League in New York. His paintings have won over 100 regional and national awards, including the Colorado Art Association Award, the Grumbacher Gold and Silver Medals, the Winsor Newton Award, the San Diego Watercolor Society Award, the Georgia Watercolor Society Bronze Medal, the Louisiana Watercolor Society Medal of Excellence, and the Emily Lowe Memorial Award from the American Watercolor Society. His most recent award was for Best Composition in the 2017 Best Of America exhibition sponsored by the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society . He is one of two S.C. artists currently showing in the American Watercolor Society’s annual exhibition in NYC. In 1988 he became the first South Carolina artist accepted into that Society .
He has had paintings accepted in most major exhibitions, including Watercolor USA, Watercolor West, American Watercolor Society, and the Butler Institute of American Art. Steven is an elected member of the Rocky Mountain Watermedia Society, Watercolor West, Pastel Society of America, and in 1988 became the first South Carolina native elected to the American Watercolor Society. .
His paintings can be seen in Splash 3, Splash 4, Best of Portrait Painting, Best of Worldwide Landscape Paintings and Creative Watercolor, which are all nationally published art books. Look for his art on the set of the TV show "Army Wives" and in the  independent film " The Life and Times of an American Playboy". He was featured in Southern Accents Magazine and the 2012 Jan/feb issue of Charleston Living Magazine .Steven is available to judge art competitions, speak to art organizations, and teach workshops. For the past 15 years he has worked primarily in oils and he was accepted into the 2011 Oil Painters of America National Exibition where he represented the state South Carolina.  His painting of Boats in Thailand was exhibited in the 2017 American Watercolor Society Annual in New York City .Recent National Awards include Best Composition in the 2017 Best of America Exhibit and 4th Place in the 2018 Best of America Small Paintng exhibition , both sponsored by the National Association of Oil and Acrylic Painters . Steven's art can be seen at his gallery and frame shop located in Northcutt Plaza , 976 H Houston Northcutt Blvd in Mt Pleasant SC .
